Sound effects for the household

A new update of high-quality household foley

From the maid sweeping the porch in a horror film, to tossing the keys in a jar or crunching a bad of potato chips, there’s all that foley that you didn’t think was important before but realized your scene sounds dead without it. Our latest upload fits all these little household foley needs.

All the sounds included in this update are typical household sounds. Sure, you could do it yourself at home, but then you’d have to do it yourself, with high quality mics and in an acoustically perfect situation. In that, we have you covered.

About the sounds

This pack of 500 studio-recorded household foley sound effects has everything you need to replicate the ordinary. Just like in our pack of gardening sounds, we’ve focused on creating the most natural sounds to fit your everyday scenes and intros. Need to have precise control over the sound of grinding beans while filming a coffee shop scene? We’ve got you covered.

We don’t just have grinding beans, we also have sounds of dishwashing, keys (rattling in hands, tossed in bowls, etc.), grating, camera bags, keyboards, printers, and even soap dispensers.

What can you use these sounds for?

Foley sounds have the obvious use. When you’re unable to capture the sonic realism of the scene, you can always add it in without having to reshoot it or rely on any clumsy attempts or great deal of time input of your own. Or if you’re doing a sequence of quick shots for a B-roll and want high-quality, fitting sounds to accompany it.

When you’re in a studio as well, many sounds that are natural to the setting you’re imitating can be absent. Those sounds can be added in and with a full control of the mix to keep the dialogue clear (or covered, if you’re Christopher Nolan).

Foley are also great for layering, adding a secondary complexity to a primary sound. Like adding the crinkling of a potato chip to a snare, or the grinding of beans to a drone.

We release new sound effects for Smartsound Cloud every two weeks. Sign up for our newsletter to keep up to date with each new release.
