Animal sound effects

Animal sounds can really round out the scene. Don’t miss out on these snorts and squeals!

The warriors are huddled in the tall grass, their spears at the ready, waiting for the British soldiers to pass so they can spring their surprise. In the early morning background, a lion’s roar can be heard as he found his prey. And go! The warriors file out, moving with the swaying grass, springing their trap with as much grace as that savanna lion that can be heard feasting in the distance.

Animal sounds can add a lot to the background and define where the scene is taking place, or the mood as well. If a hippo is chewing its food loudly, we know that it’s at the zoo or in Africa. If a knight is sitting on a horse and ready to move into battle – the horse won’t be silent, but doing its own things, snorting and whinnying and so on.

Silent animals mean the scene lives in a vacuum. And that’s one of the worst things for an immersive experience.

About the sounds

Our last upload of 500 sounds covered massive, natural impacts. Smashing rocks, slamming hammers, and the like. This time though, our recording team went out to zoos, dog parks, farms, and stables to get all the best, most descriptive sounds of our four-legged friends. Few recording sessions are as fun and furry as this one.

With these 500 new animal sounds, you can expect an entire zootopia of yawns, growls, and calls. We’ve got sounds made by sheep, pigs, hippos, lions, dogs, llamas, horses, mongooses, tigers, and wolves. With such a long list of animals – on top of those sounds we’ve already got – it’s not likely you’ll need to go anywhere else on your search for animal sound effects.

What can you use these sounds for?

Animal sounds effects tap into the reality of any situation. For neighborhood scenes, there’s always a dog barking in the distance (or one growling on the other side of the front door). For scenes in the forest, or in the African wilds, or on a farm, or covering the Tiger King, you’ll always need some ever present snorting, neighing, or distant roaring.

This pack is especially good if you’ve got a show that has anything to do with wildlife. Sprinkle these sounds into your podcast or video dialogue, using them for transitions or more.

And then there’s the layering possibilities. Deep, powerful roars are often good for creature sound design. Monster sounds are often taken from real animal sounds and just tweaked with some programs like BOOM Library’s ENRAGE.

Stay tuned for the next upload when we’ll be bringing you some gore-filled treats!
