Slam into the action!
The hero lobs a grenade into the next room. It smashes all the interior, creating a spiderweb of breaks on the glass of the windows with its impact. They run through the room, dodging the bullets flying across the chamber, knocking down pots and pans and various other accoutrements. They hit the window. The glass finally shatters. The hero is carried down onto the concrete with an array of tiny silicon daggers, tearing their skin and sliding across the concrete.
But our hero is powerful and unstoppable. They get up, look back, and roll away just in the nick of time. The gas main of the building has finally been lit and exploded, rumbling the screen and knocking the player right out of their seats.
There is no shortage of explosions and destruction in modern film and games. But what can be exceptionally challenging for sound designers everywhere is getting the right sounds to build off to tap into just the right timbre for your ultimate carnage.
Smartsound Cloud has a huge catalog of sounds perfect for ultimate destruction, and this latest upload increases the load.
About the sounds
Our previous upload covered a myriad of gore sounds, from stabs and bone breaks, to rips and crunches. As much funs as our sound designers had breaking cucumbers and tearing lettuce, we had to pull them away for the arduous and dull task of blowing things up, smashing things with a pickaxe, and throwing appliances out windows.
Wait… that sounds like a heck of a lot of fun! And it was! Who said sound designing was a boring job?
With this pack of destruction and impacts sound effects, you can expect sounds like wooden bricks hitting piles of wood blocks, explosions of dirt, debris, and metal chunks, plasma explosions, sci fi explosions, and water explosions, plus also impact sounds from wood sticks, glass bottles, and metal doors, along with falling scrap metal, and stones hitting stuff.
There is a lot of sound packed into this upload, and a lot of versatility for what these can be used for.
What can you use these sounds for?
As said above, this pack is perfect for all the starter needs in explosion sound design. It includes absolutely necessary layers for explosions of all types. If you’re designing a game or film sequence, then you’ll be able to find exactly what you need in this upload (especially combined with our already existing sound library). The stone impacts, scraps, glass impacts and debris sound are especially useful for designing your own destruction sounds. You can tune in to the exact right mix of layers, then download the sounds and put them into a program like BOOM Library’s Soundweaver, an incredible tool for exploring the depths of these sounds.
That’s not all this pack can be used for, as impacts and destruction sounds are often pivotal to successful trailer sound design. From dubbing over the original effects sound to match the mood of the trailer soundtrack, to adding in-your-face impacts to catch the viewer’s attention, it’s all covered right here.
Stay tuned for the next upload when we’ll be bringing you a selection of musical sequences.
