Tear and splatter through the dungeon with these great sound effects.
Happy New Year! On this day after new year’s day, we’d like to start off right, expanding your Smartsound Cloud sound effects library. Starting off with everyone’s favorite lettuce cracking sounds: gore!
Splat! Squelch! Rrrrip! The heroes pound their way through the dungeons, slashing and smashing through piles of orcs and golems. Necromancers are casting raise dead, legions of skeletons are rising up, their bones crunched to pieces by the barbarian hero swinging his club.
A cgi MMA battle plays on the screen, one fight against the next, rounding out for the take down. Oof! Now they’re on the mat for some bone popping turns and crunches. Every crunch, scrunch, and creak needs a sound, from dungeon crawls, to sports games, and more.
For both games and adventure videos, sound effects play a prominent role in immersion into the world. The more realistic the sounds, the more we are drawn into the games that we play. Of course, you could spend your own time crunching celery trying to get just the right reverb and effect, or you could let the pros handle the sounds and download it straight off Smartsound Cloud while you do what you do best. Obviously since I work for Smartsound, I advise the latter, because I know just how frustrating splitting vegetables can be.
About the sounds
Two weeks ago, we featured 500 percussive sounds, letting you augment and shape the rhythm of events on your screen. With kicks and toms, electronic scratches and shakers, it was a great pack for transition effects and to build energy.
This time we sent our sound design team back to smashing things in the kitchen and outside, to emulate all the right sounds for your most ferocious dungeon crawls and battles. This upload consists of bone breaks, stabs, rips, and crunches, and also atmospheric effects like creepy zither sounds and squeaky floor steps.
What can you use these sounds for?
Gore effects are a staple in every sound designer’s collection, since who knows when you’ll have to work on a game or battle scene. Every battle in every game and video needs to sound unique and powerful, and this pack of 500 serves as an excellent base, so you can take them and further mangle and edit them yourself (with tools like BOOM Library’s ENRAGE).
Gore sounds are especially good for layering and making more complex sounds. When you add a whoosh, and combine it with a crunch and a thunk (all available on Smartsound Cloud), then you’ve got a good punch or roof fall. The sound design here is only limited by your imagination when it comes to battle scenes. Just observe the scene in slow motion, so what needs to be done, and add in your edits.
