Wind it, rattle it, shake it, and roll it!
The villain-murderer slowly turns the bend, a chain in his hand. He rattles it, adding to the menace of the already dark scene. But it’s not the heavy color-grading that gives the true feel of the moment, it’s that metal rattle that serves as the heavy and powerful foreshadowing.
A child winds up a toy; a bicycle wheel spins in the air, the wind gently blowing it; all these gentle and foreboding scenes need high-quality sounds to truly deliver on the power of the moment.
Smartsound Cloud all the right mechanical sound effects for you. We continue to expand our inventory of high-quality recorded, royalty-free sound effects every two weeks, making our subscription service that much more valuable as time passes along.
About the sounds
Our previous upload of 500 musical sequences was a pleasure to record, going to studios across town and finding musicians ready to party. But this upload got us moving more outside, searching for the most useful mechanical sounds that we could find. We focused on any mechanical metal object we could find. We often found ourselves in playgrounds, offices, and farms to complete our work. When we found the right objects, we headed back to our ultra-dry studio to make sure that these were as reverb-free as possible.
This pack contains every moving metal part imaginable. From ticking watches, pocket watch clicks and metal and bicycle chains, to ratchets, wind up toys, latches, and staplers, we’ve covered a whole gamut of workaday parts and gadgets.
This pack should prove to be a workhorse of sound, since no production can be complete without a broad coverage of mechanical sounds.
What can you use these sounds for?
Sound designers often need mechanical sound effects for film and video production. They’re among those common, everyday sounds that can be hard to capture in film but still add a great deal of realism to the scene, requiring the use of special recordings or stock sounds.
We’ve brought you these stock mechanical sounds with great care and attention to detail. The sounds can be used to back up film and vlog scenes, of course, but also make for great effects in podcasts to add detail to any spoken word scene.
Stay tuned for the next upload when we’ll be bringing you a selection of metal mechanics.
We release new sound effects for Smartsound Cloud every two weeks. Sign up for our newsletter to keep up to date with each new release.
