Sound effects for debris

An explosive new upload of smashing sounds.

The car flies through the air and slams into the building wall. Glass shatters, rubble falls. Our heroes get out of the car, now firmly embedded in the fourth floor, surveying all the damage below them as wires skitter across the floor and they brush broken glass off their shoulders. All these little things at the site of an explosion or impact have their own sounds and make up that rich sonic tapestry of a disaster scene.

Adding impact to an intro or movie is more than just the visual explosion. It’s not just the sound of the impact. It’s the sound after the impact. When a building blows, windows shatter, glass rains down, bricks crumble, trash skids across the street, stones and rubble clop down. Without all those extra sounds, you might as well admit your explosion was made in a studio vacuum.

About the sounds

Our team lately has been equipped with their mics and hammers, smashing everything they can find to bits so you don’t have to. We know, we know, that sounds like an awful and terrible job. But we managed to find some fun in breaking it all down and tossing debris around like a Caesar salad.

With the last upload, we brought you a rich variety of transportation sounds, and we like to think that this week’s might even be better. We’ve included all the debris you could ever need, from the rattling and scraping of broken ceramic tiles and rolling clods of dirt, to the clopping of smashed bricks and scraping up of last Tuesday’s trash.

What can you use these sounds for?

I say this every time, but you can always use these sounds for layering. This collection even moreso, as impact sounds can always be layered to add more complexity and ear candy. Clopping bricks, broken tiles—this is gold for layering effects and on top of percussion. Need to add some crinkle in the audio of your intro? Then here you go.

In addition to layering, these sounds are vital to any demolition or construction scenes and b-rolls or explosion effects. It will easily add life and depth to any of these kinds of projects.

We release new sound effects for Smartsound Cloud every two weeks. Sign up for our newsletter to keep up to date with each new release.
