Water Elements sound effects

A bit of splishy splashy always adds some mood

A quaint coffee shop sitting alongside a small pond where a babbling brook fed into it. Patrons sat on the shaded balcony overlooking the waterway, sipping their late ammaciatos and triple shot almond milk cappuccino hold the nut, and all those drinks typical of your average American caffeineterie.

Emma was sitting alone at a table near the balcony, sipping her latte and enjoying the buzzing ambiance of the coffee shop. She was hiding behind her book, peering over the paper’s edge. Steve passed her by and went to find a seat outside. She followed him, but not too closely, pretending that she was just getting a breath of air.

It was a beautiful spot, with waves of the pond lapping beneath and the sunlight catching the ripples of the waves. In the middle of the pond there was a fountain spraying water into the air. She leant against the railing casually, trying to hide her interest.

And then an explosion. The rail gave away and she was sent downward, her life saved from her timely attempt at flirtation. The force of the blast tossed under the water. She struggled to get back up, somewhere safe where she could breathe. Flaming debris floating above her. Suddenly an arm slipped around her waist and pulled her up. It was Steve hauling her to the shore.

Water elements form the ambiance of a variety of scenes, from everyday life to thrillers. There really aren’t many moments without some sound of liquid. And it’s such a simple, obsequious background effect to add in, yet the payoff can be grand, transporting the scene directly into having the feel of reality.

Game designers, podcasters, cartoonists, and more are all in constant need of this kind of staple effect. We’re proud to present you with such an upload of super high quality water sounds. We continue to expand our inventory of high-quality, recorded, royalty-free sound effects every two weeks – our subscription service just keeps getting better and better.

About the sounds

In the last upload, we brought you a barkful of cat and dog sounds. From alley cats and street dogs to those blessed with finer lives, we made sure you were covered with all the purrs, growls, and snarls you could handle.

This time around, our sound team went for the aquatic sounds of nature. Water is a common element in our lives, and thus in film, video games, and everywhere else. We’ve prepared for you a grand upload of water sound effects recorded in stunning detail. It includes: creeks, streams, waterfalls, flowing water atmospheres, sewers, fountains, bubbles, splashes, underwater textures, movements, water sprinklers, ambiances, and so much more. What can you use these sounds for?

Water sounds are ubiquitous and are in constant need for any sound designer. Perfect for television, movies, video games, virtual reality, commercials, and even theatre. Anywhere you need to transport your audience to a scene set by a river, a beach, or underwater. For commercials, these sounds can also set the mood in more abstract senses: for a spa commercial, for example, you can use them to reinforce the sense of tranquility or relaxation.

And let’s not forget how they can be used for music. Add a bit of splash to sizzle up your snare, or use some underwater effects either if you want your music to sound underwater, or even help make it sound like if it were coming from within a building or the sound is muffled in some other way. Obviously a similar effect might be useful in film or television.

Stay tuned for the next upload when our sound engineers get all Game of Thrones on us with sounds of fire and ice!

We release new sound effects for Smartsound Cloud every two weeks, bringing you continuously more value for your subscription. Sign up for our newsletter to keep up to date with each new release.
